Urquhart, a left-sided centre back, started his career as a youth player with Hamilton Academical before joining Rangers.
After spending three years at Ibrox, he signed for Steven Pressley`s Coventry City in September 2013 but failed to make a top-team appearance for the Sky Blues.
Urquhart, who a former Scotland under-17 international with eight caps to his credit, provides competition for Gregor Buchanan and Lewis Martin in the centre of the Pars defence.
