Raith Rovers youngest pre-war player at age 16, Davie went on to become a regular for Rangers and a Scotland international.
After the war, the left winger signed for Third Lanark but was soon to join Dunfermline in October 1946 for a fee of £300. He turned out to be a great acquisition providing crosses for the strikers and helping Dunfermline to go tantalisingly close to promotion in 1949.
