Achieved lasting fame with Hibernian when he scored the winning goal from the penalty spot against Barcelona in the 1961 European Cup.

Moved to Morton in 1962 and to Berwick a year later. In 1964 he emigrated to Canada and enjoyed a three year stint. Returned to Scotland in 1967 to sign for Raith Rovers.

He was signed to The Pars in 1968 to solve the injury/suspension crisis in the East End defence for the Cup quarter final against Partick Thistle and played 4 games before the main stars returned. This proved to be his swan song and he retired at the end of the season. Died 27 August 2014.
