John Reilly was a striker who played for Dundee United and then Motherwell, before being forced into an early retirement due to an Achilles Tendon injury in 1987. Following surgery, he resumed playing with Dunfermline Athletic between 1991 and 1993.
Unfortunately he was unable to recapture the promise of his earlier career. Short spells followed with Cowdenbeath, East Fife, Arbroath, Forfar and Albion Rovers.
