After a trial for Leeds United, Andy left St Andrews United to join Dunfermline in February 1978. He made a remarkable debut - a 6-1 win over Brechin, scoring twice himself. He played his part in Pars promotion the following season but at the start of season 1979/80 Andy suffered a series of injuries that kept him out for virtually the entire season, after which he emigrated to Australia where he played for West Perth Macedonia.
