Forward signed from Melbourne Thistle in 1982. He was very fast and was already recognised as a sprinter with top timings over 100m. Scored on his debut, from the bench in October. Although doing well in the reserves, it was March 1983 before he made his only starting appearance. A few runs from the bench concluded his Pars career and he was freed to Musselburgh. He returned to the professional game in 1985 with Berwick and enjoyed success with Cowdenbeath, Forfar, Dumbarton, Alloa and St Johnstone before finishing his career in 1992.
