For the away Reserve League match against Queen of the South there were four changes from the side that faced Kilmarnock last time out. Deniz Mehmet made his return to action while Jake Rennie, Jake Sutherland and Freddie Rowe replacing Max Little, Paul Allan, Owen Moffat and Alex Jakubiak.

The teams warmed up in sunshine but by the time the hosts kicked off it was raining. Both sides forced early corners but a Rowe foul on Peter Mendy on the edge of the box handed Queens an opportunity from the third minute free kick. Mehmet pulled off a fine save as the ball skirted past the right side of the five man defensive wall, to save low at his left hand post.

In the eighth minute a long ball sent Ross IRVING down the right and the 22 year old executed a fine shot from an acute angle to find the visitor`s net. 1-0

Taylor Sutherland`s 13th minute cross / shot tested the Trialist keeper at his near post but Queens defended the resultant corner. Two minutes later a fine break through the middle by Ewan McLeod set up Taylor SUTHERLAND and he ran through to slip the ball in to level the match.

The Doonhamers responded with Irving teeing up Downie for a shot that Mehmet saved and it was the Pars who scored next in 22 minutes. It was a Sutherland brothers success as Jake picked out Taylor on the right side of the box, his shot was blocked by the keeper but Jake SUTHERLAND followed up to rattle the ball home of the underside of the crossbar. 1-2

Like Queen`s early lead it lasted only five minutes. Mehmet came out to head away a long ball but his firm connection fell for Shay MEAGHAN and from 30 yards out he lobbed the retreating keeper. 2-2

On the half hour the Sutherland brothers delivered again Taylor crossing for Jake SUTHERLAND in front of goal to finish. 2-3

Three minutes later Liam Hoggan sent Taylor up the park again and T SUTHERLAND notched his second with a super finish, 2-4.

Five minutes on and the Queens Trialist keeper pulled off a good save with his legs to deny Taylor a first half hattrick. On 40 minutes the stopper repeated his feat denying Jake this time as he ran on to a clever Michael Beagley pass.

Quite a first half with six goals. Could the second half have the same number?

Half time: Queen of the South 2 Dunfermline 4

Chances kept coming in the second half and in 48 minutes a Hoggan cross evaded Beagley in front of goal as a consequence of the slight touch from Andrew Oram. For Queens Mendy tried a speculative shot but the 20 year old was well wide of target. At the other end Miller Fenton fully met Beagley`s corner from the left but his header powered outside the left post.

At the other end Mehmet pulled off a fine save when Mendy wriggled his way into the centre of the Dunfermline box. Kian McHale replaced John Tod in 66 minutes before the Fifers forced two more corners. After Mark Beveridge came on for Michael Beagley it was Jake Rennie who was delivered a great ball for him to advance up the right and test the keeper.

Beveridge headed a J Sutherland cross into the keeper`s hands and T Sutherland shot wide from 25 yards out. T Sutherland had the final chance to add to the goals tally but his 90th minute effort went wide. After the feast of goals in the first 45 there was a famine of them in the second. Nevertheless it was a fine away win for Gary Montignani`s young reserve team.
