The 55-year-old has previously managed Norwich City and Fulham while he has also held coaching positions with West Ham, West Bromwich, Birmingham and the Scotland national team.
Peter Grant was born in Bellshill on 30th August, 1965 and broke into the Celtic midfield as a teenager, having been with Celtic Boys Club since he was 11, and by the time the club won the Scottish League in 1985-86 he was already a regular. He also won a League medal in 1987-88 and the Scottish Cup in 1989 and 1995 with Celtic. Having been capped at youth levels, Peter made two full international appearances as a sub against England and a start against Chile in 1989.
Peter left Celtic in August 1997 for Norwich City. He made 37 appearances for Norwich in his first season and was appointed club captain.
Peter joined Reading in August 1999 and made a total of 29 appearances for them before in May 2000, signing a three year contract with Bournemouth as their player coach.
In January 2004, Alan Pardew, the West Ham manager appointed Peter as his assistant and the Hammers were promoted to the Premiership through the play-offs at the end of that season, and reached the FA Cup final in 2005-06.
Following Nigel Worthington`s departure from Norwich in early October 2006, Peter was appointed manager at Carrow Road. Grant`s first season saw the Canaries finish in 16th place in the Championship. The Canaries made a reasonable start to the 2007-08 season but a run of six games without a win or a goal led to him departing the club "by mutual consent" in October 2007.
In July the following year Peter accepted an invitation from his former Celtic teammate Tony Mowbray to become first team coach at West Brom. After a year in the Premiership, Mowbray, despite relegation, was appointed manager at Celtic and took Grant with him.
Mowbray and Grant were at Celtic until March 2010 and in July that year, Grant signed as first-team coach for Birmingham City replacing Roy Aitken under Alex McLeish. Grant followed McLeish to Villa Park in the summer of 2011 and was Assistant Manager there until May 2012.
Grant joined Fulham as first team coach in June 2014 becoming caretaker manager in November 2015. Upon the appointment of Slaviša Jokanović in December 2015, Grant moved back to be responsible for the Under-21s.
In May 2017, Grant was appointed Assistant Coach for Scotland`s Under-21s, working alongside Scot Gemmill, while retaining his role at Fulham. 2017. Alex McLeish appointed Grant to an assistant coaching position with the Scotland national team from March 2018 until April 2019.
Grant and Fulham returned to the Premier League in May 2018 but he left Fulham in August 2018 and was appointed manager of Alloa Athletic in July 2019, replacing Jim Goodwin.
Out of contract after leaving Alloa Athletic at the end of the 2020-2021 season, the Dunfermline job is his fourth as manager.
After making a good start in the League Cup Peter`s side did not win a league match under his charge and after twelve Championship games he left the club.
