John became Chairman of the Club following the sudden death of Leonard Jack and held that position until 1982 when Jimmy Watters took over at the helm.
Doctor John Yellowley was Chairman for an eleven year period from 1971.
He became club physician in 1965 taking over from Dr Robson who had emigrated to Canada. Two years later at the end of 1967 he was co-opted to the Board and in 1970 he took over as Vice Chairman under Leonard Jack. The following year John became Chairman of the Club following the sudden death of Leonard Jack and held that position until 1982 when Jimmy Watters took over at the helm. During his period in the chair John Yellowley guided the Club through some of the most difficult years of its history.
In his younger days John played both cricket and football and at the end of his war service in the Navy he turned down an approach from Queens Park. Doctor Yellowley was a partner in the town`s Canmore Street medical practice that moved to become the Nethertown Surgery where Pars goalkeeper Hugh Whyte was also one of the partners.
