News | Job to be done at Peterhead

Tuesday, 11th Apr 2023

`As long as we go with the right attitude and mindset we`ve had all season then we`ll be fine. We just need to do our job and win.`

Dunfermline will be led into their 32nd league match of the season by skipper Kyle Benedictus and the Pars captain is adamant that for the team it will just be business as usual.

`We can`t go up there thinking it`s going to be easy, we need to go up there with full focus. The boys have stuck to our task all season and there`ll be no change against Peterhead.`

While Dunfermline and Falkirk played out a 2-2 draw on Saturday, Tuesday night`s opposition recorded just their third win of the season. Their three points took them closer to ninth placed Clyde. The Bully Wee are two points ahead but they have played one game more. Peterhead have five matches in which to pick up points to avoid automatic relegation to League Two and give themselves a chance in the play offs. The Pars 31 year old central defender has not missed the challenge that might await them at the Balmoor Stadium:-

`Peterhead are fighting for their lives and they got a good victory over Edinburgh on Saturday, so we`re under no illusions it will be a tough game.`

Peterhead likewise will be aware that should Falkirk fail to win at Montrose on Tuesday then a Dunfermline win would win them the league title. Kyle, who has played every minute of the 31 league matches this season, urged caution and not to get too far ahead of themselves:-

`It`s obviously closer to the finish now and the fans will be thinking about what they hope`s going to happen in the next few games but we just need be focused on the next game ahead.

`Getting towards the end of the season, it`s natural that people think of the different scenarios that could happen and every player will know themselves what those are.

`We just need to concentrate on this game and let everything else take care of itself. As long as we go with the right attitude and mindset we`ve had all season then we`ll be fine. We just need to do our job and win.`

Kyle was boosted by the fight back from two goals down at Falkirk on Saturday to take a draw that maintain their 19 league games unbeaten record:-

`The boys never know when they`re beat. There`s a lot of character in the dressing room and that never-say-die attitude is a great trait to have as a team and as a club.

`It was a deserved point in the end against Falkirk at the weekend and now we move on to the next one. We went to the fans at the end of the game on Saturday and that was just to show our appreciation of them. It`s been a long season for them.

`I wasn`t at the club last season but it was a disappointing one for everyone. What`s been most impressive this season, throughout the club, is that everybody has been working together to get Dunfermline back to where they deserve to be.`
