Dunfermline Reserves faced Dundee Reserves for the second time this season. The `˜Dee won the first meeting, a Reserve League match, 1-0 at North End Park, Dundee in August and this time the sides met in the Reserve League Cup at Ainslie Park, Edinburgh.

Again it was a young Dunfermline side that took the field, Miller Fenton was the captain and both Sam Young and Taylor Sutherland, on loan at East Stirlingshire and Bonnyrigg Rose, started. Dundee fielded only five players who started the previous league match.

Despite the home side producing a lively start it was the visitors who opened the scoring with Euan MUTALE finding the bottom left of the Dunfermline net after he had been afforded too much room and time to pick his spot from the edge of the box. 0-1

The pink boots of the big Dundee no.9 found the net again just three minutes later, MUTALE passing a cut back from the left byeline into the far side of the Pars goal 0-2.

Dunfermline replied forcing a 19th minute corner but when Beagley delivered from the left Young was penalised for pushing at the far post. A foul on Jake Sutherland earned a free kick on the left side 25 yards out. Beagley was in charge of the setpiece but when taken Jake Sutherland`s header was deflected behind.

After that there were few chances at either end and when the interval came Dundee went in with the two goal advantage.

Half time: Dunfermline 0 Dundee 2

Logan Kudesia replaced Liam Hoggan for the second half. It was a misplaced pass that gifted Richardson the first attempt on target of the half but Max Little pulled off a good save to keep it at 0-2.

Next Jake Sutherland`s shot was deflected for a corner on the left but that failed to create any threat. When Ewan McLeod sent Taylor Sutherland down the right in 61 minutes, the young striker swiftly made ground to cross for his brother Jake SUTHERLAND to finish clinically. 1-2

Mark Beveridge was subbed by Liam Middleton before play resumed but Dundee struck next to restore their two goal advantage in 68 minutes. A fine curling shot into the top right corner from RICHARDSON. 1-3

RICHARDSON made it two goals in two minutes as he was able to create an opening on the left and dispatch the ball past Little. 1-4

Sub Rayan MOHAMMED made it five as his shot beat Little and hit the right goalpost before to tucked it away. 1-5

An interruption by a capital city fox allowed Greg Shields to field his remaining subs - Neil Blake, Dan Bell and Jamie Finlay taking over from Jake Sutherland, Michael Beagley and John Tod. For the final ten minutes neither the subs nor the fox made any difference to the outcome.
