`They have been pretty good all season, they score a lot of goals. When we have played against them they have definitely been hard to play against.

Last weekend when the Peterhead match was postponed the playing squad trained instead and having taken in three quarters of the Reserve League Cup match on Tuesday, Lewis McCann is hoping to have caught enough of the manager`s eye this week to be chosen to face FC Edinburgh on Saturday.

`Obviously we were upset because we want to play every single weekend. The cold weather came in and we can`t do anything about that. We just have to move on and play it when it comes.`

Players who were on the bench for the Falkirk game started on Tuesday and Lewis enjoyed his 66 minutes at Ainslie Park:-

`It is good to start again and playing a lot of minutes. Obviously you want to play week in week out but sometimes you are not in the team, sometimes you are in the team. Those reserve games are good to keep your levels up.`

The 3-0 win over Queen of the South secured Dunfermline`s passage into this season`s final of the Reserve League Cup, Lewis continued:-

`The boys did very well in that game, even the young ones who came on were very good and it`s pleasing to get a win as well. We have something to look forward to there and the ones who are not playing first team games can still get involved in.`

The 21 year old was pleased to take the benefit of a game, good to get minutes into the legs and help stay sharp.

One game at a time

Pars supporters are already studying the possible permutations from the potential results in the remaining nine league matches. Lewis repeated the now familiar policy:-

`The gaffer has installed in us to take it game by game, so we are not looking forward too far for anything. It has been like that all season, the mood has not changed when we have had games where we have not played so well or drawn games and even lost. In training the mood has always been the same and good to get a consistency.

`It has really helped us this season just taking it game by game and three points. We not getting carried away with anything, no one is getting excited.`

One thing that Lewis is sure of is that he and his teammates will be well prepared for the threats that FC Edinburgh will bring:-

`The gaffer has been good about what to expect and how we are going to play. He has got the majority of things right this season and we have been very good at adapting for whatever team we are playing against. We have been quite versatile in how we can play, whether we want to sit back and then press or go and press them more and keep the ball. We have been quite good at that this season.`

Lewis scored twice against FC Edinburgh in the first away league game of the season but he warned:-

`They have been pretty good all season, they score a lot of goals. When we have played against them they have definitely been hard to play against. They have a lot of good quality in their team and they will be a tough one to crack definitely.

`They came here with a game plan and it maybe wasn`t to press us so much but they were hard to break down. They did their jobs very well and playing them away in the first game we were on a very big high against them, winning 3-0. The other league games have been 1-0 and 1-0. Anything can happen so we will see but we will be going into it wanting three points.`
