Signed on a short term deal on 26 March 2025 until the end of the 2024-2025 season, Victor Wanyama is a midfielder with extensive experience.
Debuted as a 65th minute sub in Championship match against Ayr United and was red carded 20 minutes later for deliberate hand ball.
He made 472 appearances at senior level including over 90 for each of Southampton, Tottenham and Celtic. Now 33 years of age the Kenyan has 64 international caps to his credit and played under Neil Lennon at Celtic in seasons 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.
Wanyama first moved to Europe from his native Kenya when he joined Swedish club Helsingborg in 2007. One year later he moved to play in Belgium for Germinal Beerschot. Victor was 20 years old when Celtic signed him from Belgian club. After Celtic he joined Southampton to become the first Kenyan player to play in the Premier League. Next club was Tottenham Hotspur where he was re-united with Mauricio Pochettino who had also signed him for Southampton.
Victor left the UK just before Covid struck in March 2020, to join Major Soccer League club, Montreal Impact (now CF Montreal). He made 133 appearances for Montreal in all competitions. In total the above moves generated over £30m in transfer fees.
